What would you do with a million dollars?

National Light The Night Team Friends of Heroes officially surpassed the million dollar mark in fundraising dollars!
With the dedicated support of our donors, walkers, team captains and affiliate teams, Friends of Heroes is well on its way to making a difference in the lives of blood cancer patients.
For every dollar donated, 75 cents is directed towards cutting edge cancer research and patient services that many patients depend on during and after treatment. That amounts to over $750,000 from our team!!!
To celebrate our first million dollars raised, Team Friends of Heroes is hosting a fun drawing. To enter, leave a comment on this post with an answer to the question:
What would you do with a million dollars??!!
Please include a valid email address with your comment so we can contact you! One lucky comment will win a Light The Night gift package. Comments will close on October 30, 2008.
CONGRATULATIONS Friends of Heroes for reaching this major milestone in only 4 years!!! Keep up the incredible work!!!!

Chili’s to donate all profits from September 29 to St. Jude
0
On September 29, Chili’s Grill & Bar offers an easy way for you to join the fight against childhood cancer: dining out.
Participating Chili’s restaurants nationwide will donate 100 percent of its profits from this Monday to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. So enjoy those famous Baby Back Ribs or one of Chili’s other signature entrées for lunch or dinner, and you will be supporting the lifesaving work of St. Jude.
The special day is part of Chili’s “Create-A-Pepper to Fight Childhood Cancer” campaign. During September—which is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month—guests can make a donation to St. Jude and receive a coloring sheet they can decorate and have displayed in the restaurant.
Guests can also purchase Create-A-Pepper T-shirts ($12) or you can purchase 2008 limited edition Chili’s – St. Jude keys ($5) that you can be cut for use at home. Sixty percent of the purchase price of the T-shirt and keys will go to St. Jude.
“Chili’s guests have enthusiastically embraced the mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over the years, and I’m confident that September’s Create-A-Pepper campaign will once again inspire guests to support our lifesaving work,” said David L. McKee, interim CEO and chief operating officer of ALSAC, the fundraising organization for St. Jude. “We are so grateful for Chili’s partnership with St. Jude and for the company’s commitment to our patients and their families.”
To date, Chili’s has raised $18.7 million as part of a $50 million commitment to St. Jude over a 10-year period. Once completed, the donation will be the largest donation from a single partner campaign in St. Jude’s history.
For more information, to purchase Create-A-Pepper T-shirts and keys, to make an online donation or to create a pepper online, visit www.createapepper.com.
Light the Night Team Tidbits

Reno Friends of Heroes has doubled since last year! We have a new Reno Friends of heroes Honoree, ETHAN! He is one of the sweetest boys. He is 5 years old had had Leukemia. He finished up treatment earlier this year. He was Reno’s Light the Night honoree from last year. At the walk, I was honored with the award of “volunteer of the year”! It caught me by such a surprise! I was literally brought to tears and was speechless. To think that before Friends of Heroes, (at the time Allies Angels) I did not eve know much about blood cancers, NOW, finding a cure and helping out the families is my life.
Thank you friends of heroes!

Like Friends of Heroes, Hyundai has joined in the fight against pediatric cancer and will be appearing at Light The Night Walks across the country!
In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Hope on Wheels and Hyundai and its dealers will expand their program to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s pediatric cancer research initiatives as the national automotive partner for more than 240 Light The Night Walks throughout the country.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk is an annual event to raise funds for cures. It’s the nation’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to thousands of patients and their families.
Funds raised through Light The Night Walk support the work of hundreds of the world’s best and brightest researchers in their search for better therapies and cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Acute lymphocytic leukemia is the most common form of cancer in children, which is why Hope on Wheels is proud to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s life-saving research.
